The Pygmy Goat is the smallest of the goat breeds. Originating from The Cameroon Valley of West Africa, the Pygmy was kept to provide meat and milk for the family. It was taken to Zoos in Europe and then adopted by smallholders to breed as pets.
The Pygmy makes a popular pet due to it’s inquisitive and fun personality. A large paddock is not necessary, but providing objects to climb on, such as a stack of old pallets is a must. Goats like to be high up! Being small in size, handling the goat (such as hoof trimming) is easy work.
